I have had a productive week and have another elly almost completed (pics to come very soon), these little bears below have all been completed this week.

I was inspired to work a little more creatively and tried cutting a stack of bear pieces out at once instead of individually. Each one of them has their own personality. I hope you like them.

Life is a little stressed in our household so it's nice to escape to bear-making and listening to music. I'm going through an 80's phase today with my music, it brings back some great memories of my childhood.

I have also been creative with my computer and finally taught myself how to use pixlr.com to make some artistic images like that below.

Life is too short, enjoy!!! Make every day a great day!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, whether you are a mother of a human baby, puppy, kitten, alpaca, mouse, bird, snake, provide motherly support to a friend, surrogate mother for someone special, you're all wonderful and deserving of a special day just for you.

I am a mother of a white puppy and a big black puppy as well as two red kangaroos.

Whilst we celebrate Mothers Day, lets spare a thought for all those mothers who are now no longer with us, those mothers who have not been able to be mothers through circumstance, those people who have difficult relationships with their mothers and those who never knew their mothers.

Congratulations to Iris, the winner of my giveaway.

Thankyou to everyone who entered, I had 70 entrants from around the world, I feel honoured that you all wanted to give my little orange bear a new home :0)

Hello there,

I have been playing with my patterns again and looking at folky/primitive styles

and came up with a new bunch of bears. They are an open edition of bears with

a little Australian inspiration in them, either in their name, accessories etc.

This is Blue Gum and Jarrah number 1 and 2.

Both are currently available for adoption,

I have also made some little felt bears which come with a

little coin purse. Aaah so many ideas and so little time!!

This is Bilby, inspired by an unusual Australian animal with huge ears, long nose

and legs like a rabbit.

Just born today, he is made from hand-dyed viscose fabric, sassy fabric and wool felt.

He has glass eyes, thread nose and mouth, disc and pin joints,

filled with polyfill and crushed garnet.

(he has been adopted and is off to Italy soon)

I am having a giveaway, this gorgeous little bear is 'Chloe' she measures approx 8 inches/20cm tall. She has been handmade using orange viscose fabric, she has disc and pin joints on her arms, legs and head all move.

She has glass eyes, thread nose with some shading. Her paw pads are a lovely white flower cotton fabric. She wears a handknitted hat with beads, ribbon and frangipani button. She also wears a handmade yarn flower on her right wrist.

Chloe has been filled with polyfill and crushed garnet for weight.

I don't want to bombard you with my posts so soon, but,

I had to share something odd that happened to me today.

First, I completed a new Elephant who remained without a name.

Here are some of her images (she is also listed on bearpile click below or contact me for details).

I took these images in a room I often use for photography because of its lighting.

This little space is also storage for bits and pieces including bear making items and old family books etc.

It just so happened that whilst going through some of these old books from the 1800's and 1900's I came across one belonging to my Grandfathers Sister (not sure what relation that is to me, maybe Grand Aunt or something).

I flicked through the pages and back to the front cover which was all very interesting and then a slip of newspaper dropped out onto the floor.

I opened it up and it was dated November 23, 1936.

It had been roughly ripped out of the Adelaide Advertiser for an article on my families home town, but, I became intrigued by an image of a gorgeous woman and the headline:

"Death of visiting Dancer, Member of Russian Ballet Company".

Thinking nothing of it at the time I re-folded it and put the book back on the shelf and returned to what I was doing.

A couple of hours later I sat down to read today's Sunday Mail Newspaper

(Adelaide Advertiser on weekdays) and there was a familiar image of this gorgeous looking woman once again and a story about her.

She was 'Mira Dimina' which was her stage name as a ballerina for the

'Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo', her real name was Madeline Parker.

She was born in America and had begun to make a name for herself first as an actress appearing alongside James Cagney and then as a dancer.

However she passed away aged 24 years from Leukemia whilst touring with the dance company.

She had not been aware of her illness.

She is buried in Adelaide, South Australia

I am intrigued by her story now, although there appears to be limited information about her.

Little Lisa has been handmade from viscose fabric which has been hand-dyed in a coffee and spice mix. She has glass eyes with needlefelted eye whites under her eyes.

Her nose has been stitched using thread. She has disc and pin joints to all limbs and head. Her paw pads are French linen fabric. She has had a little light shading to her face and around her paw pads.

Lisa wears a yarn collar, handmade heart button and flower. She comes with her little shabby handmade lavender scented strawberry.

Lisa has a sewn in tag and comes with a signed swing tag also.

Postage within Oz is $9 and international post including insurance is approx $28

Valentines Day free tutorial

I have been baking all day and want to give you all

a little Valentine's Day treat.

A cupcake recipe just for you because you're all so special. Awwww :0)

This is my first attempt at a tutorial and I was searching everywhere for a way

to make a little cupcake for my bears.

I was not successful in my search and decided to roll up my sleeves and try and make some myself.

(please note these are not fit for human consumption ;0)

Ingredients used: faux cashmere sheets, fabric or felt, yarn, 2 biggish metal washers, polyfilling, buttons etc for decoration.

The end product measures just over 2 inches tall and the same wide (approx).

I part filled a couple with spices like cloves and aniseed and they smell gorgeous!

They are great as pin cushions also!

A couple of new bears using acrylic eyes.

Nate is a little cross eyed and cranky and Viktoria well she speaks for herself as a Goth.

I have been fiddling around with some photos of my home grown garden produce as well, check out the figs below and the teen weeny baby Zucchini (courgettes). Aren't they cute!

Rozelle new design.

Well its taken me many years of trial and error to come up with this design which I love! I gave up on felting a few months back because it plays havoc with my asthma and hayfever for days afterwards. But, I gave in the other day and took some medication which helped a little and this design was the result. Rozelle is one of the first, there are others patiently waiting for the March online show, so please do pop by to the teddies worldwide website in march to check out the others, some of whom have felted hats. The link to this show is in my sidebar. I will also be listing more on the various websites over the coming weeks.

This is Rozelle, who is 7½ inches (19 centimeters)
She has been handmade from sassy fabric.

Rozelle has little rose cotton fabric foot and paw pads with shading.

Her glass eyes have been handpainted which gives her a little extra sparkle, she has needlefelted alpaca wool eyelids and surrounds. Her face has extensive shading to add character.

She has a perle thread nose and mouth, is filled with polyfill and a small bag of crushed garnet for weight. Rozelle has moving disc and pin joints to her head, arms and legs. She wears a little white ribbon by one ear and a key around her neck as well as a little rose flower.

She is now on etsy and bearpile or contact me to adopt.

Just some little holiday shopping ideas. I wanted to share this lovely etsy treasury. I also wanted to send you all some Christmas Angels. (I am a little biased as my angel bear is listed :o)

Have a great one! I have just finished making the pudding (very late for me!) and have carols playing in the background. If we take all the hype, organising, racing around, gift giving etc away it is a nice time of year to relax and take stock!

I have been playing around with a few of my patterns and

came up with this sweet little piglet, Charlotte. I rather like how she turned out.

I have never attempted a piggy before. I might have to experiment with some other animals!!

I also had to take this photo today of a lovely street in suburban Gawler north of Adelaide.

The Jacaranda trees are in full bloom and it just looks so gorgeous at this time of the year!! Even though life may throw us a few difficulties at times little gems like these remind how great nature is and remind me to keep smiling :0)

Spring lovely Spring

A little aside from teddy bears I wanted to share with you some pics of my garden.

I love roses, especially the ones that grow so beautifully for me :0)

The large amount of rain over winter has meant that the flowers this year are just gorgeous and infact the whole garden has grown amazingly!

Including my special Raspberry bath which started out as an experiment and

has now gone berserk!

Don't you love old baths!!

I have a handful of bears on sale on etsy and new patterns so make sure to take a peek, also,

I will be at the Greenock Artisans Markets which start again this friday evening. I will be there weather permitting.

And I am in the process of closing down my website and moving my domain to this blog so, if i go missing you will know that I am working behind the scenes somewhere. (I'm no computer expert, but, will give it a go and see what happens, fingers crossed!!).

Hi, sorry its been a while.

I have been experimenting with silk scarves and shibori dying techniques. Here is a little sample.

And my latest little prototype bear from yet another new pattern!!

Life has been a bit rough and choppy lately with virtually no income, my husband facing some potential serious health problems and my mum having been told she had a brain tumour one day and now it seems more likely a form of Epilepsy. More Doctors to visit and hopefully positive news to come in the next few months. If it doesn't rain it pours as the old saying goes!

And today is the 17th anniversary of my fathers death from Cancer in 1994. Mum and I nursed him at home on a remote Aboriginal Community through his last 9 months on this earth. Our father/daughter relationship was difficult, but, he was my dad and I still miss him.

Cheers to you Dad.
