New postcards and more bears

I have been busy creating. I have two bears entered in a local Adelaide Hills competition which finishes this weekend so will see how they go These bears will soon be up for sale. Once is called Aiden and the other Lucy. Stay tuned for photos. Aiden is a light purple with a gorgeous darker purple hat and Lucy is a real lady with a white hat with lots of roses hearts etc. This week I have received the second of my new postcards from the printer. The trio. They look cute and I will be ordering more different cards and postcards in the months to come including some of the animals around the place. Make sure you check back regularly as I also have other new patterns on the go with new handcrafted bears coming soon I have decided to reinstate my online shop due to queries from customers and have now been able to separate postage amounts inside and outside Australia. However if you have any further queries please contact me. Hope you had a happy easter Di.

Summer Bushfires and spas that dont work

Yesterday started out quite a nice mild summers day 30 degrees celsius a nice day for spinning and bear making but plans changed as a bushfire came up quite quickly and filled the house and paddock with thick smoke. My plans for the day changed as without much warning suddenly we had to prepare to evacuate and grab only important papers. We waited and watched prepared to leave as water bomber aircraft helicopters and police and fire services came closer to our property. The local roads were closed for hours but thankfully after the support of three water bombers 70 firefighters and 11 fire trucks they managed to contain the fire before it crossed our road and into a conservation park filled with trees and scrub. The alpacas oblivious to the drama continued to eat and Apache even went for a swim although I think he had some trouble understanding how his little spa works hehe.

Yesterday I managed to finish making some hand spun alpaca yarn using a drop spindle and some hand dyed alpaca wool donated by Kimba Very exciting Whilst not perfect it was my first attempt I was able to knit an alpaca hat today for an upcoming handmade bear who is not yet completed. The yarn is quite thick in places but i think it adds to the character Hopefully will get better with practice.
